I made myself a new laptop sleeve FINALLY after I got a wake up call the other day. I had a knit sleeve on it before, but it was not secure enough to defend my laptop from random items that get tossed into my bag. The other day I pulled out my laptop and heard a jingling, and discovered that a key from my bag had slipped into my CD drive. I got it out, but finally decided to suck it up and make a new cover.
It matches the headphone pouch I made a few months ago (lame? no.) and I appliqued ice cream cones onto a different fabric for the top border. I still need to put a zipper on it (once I go to the store and buy a zipper) but I’m pretty excited about it. I lined it with the knit sleeve I was using before so it still has that soft protection. I realize this makes me look like a little kid (the silly bandz on my wrist don’t help) but what can I say? I love ice cream. Whatchu think?
I love Halloween. Halloween is my favorite of anything ever (besides a few choice people). Above all the things I love (besides a few choice people), Halloween trumps all categories. The air has been getting a bit more brisk in Atlanta recently, and the air smells a little more autumnal (despite the 90 degree sun), and I’m already getting giddy about Halloween. Not sure what I’ll be yet, but I’m thinking something spooky (the last few years I’ve stuck to strictly old school Halloween-themed costumes). Be prepared for multiple posts a day of only Halloween related things during the month of October. Sneak peek:
I’m 100% positive I saw an 80s movie star in Starbucks today (don’t hate me for going there, I was tutoring and it is the only coffee shop in Buckhead!). He was even wearing cutoff shorts and boat shoes, same hairstyle he wore in the 80s. Problem is I can’t remember his name. I’m working on googling “80s man star with long blonde hair living in Atlanta”. I learned my googling skills from my mom. We’ll see what I come up with, photos soon hopefully.
Hoarders has just arrived on Netflix instant streaming, and boy am I excited. However, all of these people talking about “getting a good deal” and “treasures in the garbage” and frequent thrift store trips remind me a little too much of myself. I might need to stop watching.
Not sure why the Barack Obama Facebook updater posted this a day early, but some of the comments left on his wishes for Rosh Hashanah (much appreciated, sure) are the best. Some of my favorite highlights:
I don’t usually wear t-shirts, but I love this one. It’s really soft, organic cotton from A.S. Tees. Thanks, fibre space!
I’d like to point out that Fibre Space is a play off of Cyber Space, which has nothing to do with outer space. However, they still chose to make their brand theme outer space related for no apparent reason. Unless it’s not related to Cyber space which would just be weird, because even Emily Dickinson’s slant rhyme couldn’t reconcile fibre and outer. I think big balls of yarn in computer world would be way better:
